Course #401 Just for Kids

Making Pictures and Prints

Kids of all ages are welcome to participate in a fun filled afternoon workshop. It's an opportunity to learn everything you wanted to know about digital cameras but were afraid to ask. It starts with a review of camera settings, features and picture taking modes - then learning how to transfer and store photographs and use the print kiosks.

Workshop includes 10 free prints using fun borders and designs.

Course #402: Composition

A picture speaks 1000 words

The placement of a subject(s) can often make or break an image. Explore considerations like focal point, rule of thirds, anchoring, colour & contrast, mood, form, shape and texture, motion, creative & artistic style. Learn what the critics say - how contest images are judged. Gain information to challenge your creativity & take your photography to the next level.

Course #304: Camera & Computers

Transfer & Store your Pictures

The basics of downloading your photos from camera to computer: Using USB cable, card reader & USB key, Windows file storage & organization, burn a CD/ DVD, slide show viewing & digital picture frames. Using AV cable & identify movie files. Introduction to On-line services- photo storage, sharing & printing. Bring a laptop if desired.

What are all these buttons & dials for?

Learn the basics of DSLR operation - navigate the menu, apply automatic & preset scene settings, set image quality & size, use auto focus, wide angle & telephoto, stabilization, flash, access detailed image data, care of memory cards, battery power & camera cleaning and more.

Course #204: Intermediate

More than Automatic

Continue learning; using preset scene settings (such as portrait, landscape, closeup, action) & (P) Program. Apply specific features such as: continuous frame, self timer, remote, video mode, live view. Explore menu options - learn when & how to change focus & metering settings, deal with backlight & flash. Brief introduction to ISO, white balance, histogram, S or Tx, A and Manual settings. This course is appropriate for compact, advanced compact & DSLR cameras.

Course #104. Advanced Applications

Getting the Most from your Camera

 

Be creative using advanced features with more photographer control. Learn to apply functions such as ISO, white balance, histogram, exposure compensation, shutter & aperture priority, depth of field, multiple exposure & image overlay. This course is appropriate for advanced compact cameras & DSLR's that have P, S or Tx, A & M settings.
